A former governorship candidate in Rivers State Prince Tonye Princewill, has called for the root causes of illegal refining of petroleum productsto be addressed.
Princewill who spoke with journalist said the rate of of illegal refining is a reflection of the intersection where unemployment meets corruption, entitlement and insecurity.
“You can act tough on illegal refining, but you also have to be tough on the causes of illegal refining, or else it’s a non starter. And I don’t see any sign of that happening”.
Recall that the Rivers State Government recently gave marching orders to Local Government Chairmen to destroy all illegal refining sites in their domain.
