Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has charged the media to exert pressure on President Muhammadu Buhari to assent to the amended Electoral Act.
The governor said it is important that the media should enlighten Nigerians on why there should be the electronic transmission of election results in order to save the nation’s democracy.
Governor Wike stated this after he was conferred with an award in Abuja on Wednesday.
The governor also said the only way the politicians can become accountable to the people is when the electoral process is free and fair.
Wike also insisted that his move to ensure the Rivers State Government collects Value Added Tax and Personal Income Tax is in line with Nigeria’s constitution.
